aXichem AB (publ), a developer of natural analogue industrial compounds, updates the status for the Feed Additive approval in the EU for its innovative product phenylcapsaicin as a feed ingredient, under the brand aXiphen®. The company filed its Feed Additive application in March 2022 and has now, as part of the standard approval process, received questions from the European Food Safety Autohrity (EFSA), who manages the application.

“aXichem has received a few questions from EFSA, which is a normal and expected part of the process. The questions are of a clarifying nature and can be responded to by our team promptly. In accordance with EFSA’s process this means that the legal maximal time for the approval currently is set to September this year. As stated previously I believe that we have high quality data in the filed material and I foresee a good process forward,“ says Torsten Helsing, CEO of aXichem.

“It is strategically important that phenylcapsaicin is already approved for food market applications and that we during 2022 successfully have established the product under the brand aXivite in the nutraceutical market. We intend to continue to grow our sales in both EU and the U.S. during 2023 in this market segment, and we are preparing to expand our offer and enter the feed market as soon as the Feed Additive approval is in place,” says Lucas Altepost, VP and VP of Sales and Marketing at aXichem.

About phenylcapsaicin
The health benefits of chili, with its active ingredient capsaicin have been known for centuries. But chili is also known for being hot and not so easily consumed. aXichem’s proprietary molecule, phenylcapsaicin, combines the naturally occurring phenyl group with capsaicin, bridged by a triple bond. The result is in an innovative natural analogue capsaicin with high purity, where the pungency is greatly reduced. aXichem's strategy is to establish phenylcapsaicin under the brands aXiphen® and aXivite® in three market areas under different brands through distributors and own marketing and sales:

- ingredient in feed for poultry, such as chicken and turkey

- ingredient in dietary supplements for intestinal health, weight control and sports and exercise

- bio-enhancement of curcumin and melatonin
